Who are we?
Matt Ball
Matt is a Wales based theatre maker, director, writer, and educator with extensive experience in the performing arts across the UK and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He was Associate Programme Leader at Sharjah Performing Arts Academy from 2019-25, where he directed Roots & Branches, Things we lost in the floods, What Number do I call?, Songs for the End of the World, and The first.
From 2011 to 2013, Matt was the Creative Associate at National Theatre Wales (NTW), during which he established WalesLab, NTW's initiative for nurturing new talent and ideas. Prior to his tenure at NTW, he was the Artistic Director of Camden People's Theatre from 2006 to 2011, a venue renowned for fostering innovative and experimental performances. Before working in the UAE, he held roles as a creative agent for the Arts Council of Wales and Theatre Programmer at Chapter Arts Centre.
Jacqui George
Jacqui has been working in Stage and Production Management for the last 25 years. with a major focus on Conservatoire training. She has taught at several conservatoires and is a Master of Education and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In 2018 Jacqui joined the senior leadership team at Sharjah Performing Arts Academy to design and implement a Conservatoire performing and production arts undergraduate training, the first of its kind in the MENA region. After sucessfully establishing the academy she left to take up the role of Director for World Stage Design 2025.
Jacqui has worked with professional companies such as National Theatre Wales, National Youth Theatre of Great Britain and Shared Experience. She has toured the UK extensively, produced Rep seasons in the West End, and internationally worked in Shanghai; World Expo, Berliner Festspiele, and Paphos; City of Culture.
